At the 3rd Annual Conference of the Vietnam Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty Society (VAAS) in conjunction with the ASEAN Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association (ASSA), Dr. Tang Ha Nam Anh, MD, PhD, was elected President of ASSA.

From September 12 to 14, 2024, the conference was held in Hanoi with the participation of 50 international keynote speakers from across the globe and Southeast Asia. In addition, 60 Vietnamese experts presented and shared their clinical experience and the latest research on knee and hip joint replacement, post-traumatic ligament reconstruction, and meniscus and articular cartilage preservation.
During the annual Executive Board meeting, Dr. Tang Ha Nam Anh, MD, PhD, President of the Vietnam Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty Society, was formally elected President of the ASEAN Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association (ASSA).
Alongside the conference, delegates representing Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines conducted a preliminary tour of Sante Surgical Hospital. They expressed profound admiration and enthusiasm upon inspecting the state-of-the-art facilities at Sante Hospital and observing several advanced surgical techniques demonstrated by Dr. Tang Ha Nam Anh.

Newly appointed President of ASSA – Dr. Tang Ha Nam Anh, MD, PhD, shared: 'For 11 years, from the Ho Chi Minh City Arthroscopy Society to the Vietnam Arthroscopy & Arthroplasty Society, I have continually pursued the goal of enhancing the expertise of young Vietnamese presenters to integrate into ASEAN and Asia-Pacific conferences, while placing faith in the future generation of Vietnamese Orthopedics to reach world-class standards.'
In his inaugural address, the new ASSA President affirmed a dedicated action plan to support specialized technology and expertise transfer to Laos and Cambodia. He also committed to implementing academic exchange initiatives via fellowship programs, alongside hands-on and online training courses for regional medical practitioners, while advancing scientific research collaboration in arthroscopy and sports medicine, strengthening the role of ASSA in the Asia–Pacific medical community.
